New Family of Four {Mount Pleasant Lifestyle Newborn Photography}

I adore this family! The mother of these two adorable kids has a gift with words, so I will let her blog interview speak for these images. I will just go grab some pop corn and tissues because her response to these questions has me all misty-eyed. I really love what I do and am so honored to capture these memories for this family. It gives me chills to think about the impact of these photographs in their family history.
Was there anything you were nervous or worried about before your newborn session?
Honestly, no.  This was our second newborn session with Jody and our third session overall so we knew without a doubt that we were in excellent hands! I was less concerned with having “the perfect” outfits this time too, since I know now that you pay more attention to the overall feeling of the photos and the looks on everyone’s faces.  I also knew that Jody would work her magic to get great pictures of our newborn daughter.  It took a little effort to get her to sleep (cluster feedings!), but Jody was so patient and made me feel completely at ease in the process. I was a little more concerned about how our son would do since he is such an active kid, but Jody had great advice and tricks up her sleeve (hidden candy) for him too!

Do you have any advice for other families preparing for an in-home newborn session?

Do not worry – if you have chosen Jody to capture your newborn then you have done your research!  Jody is a baby whisperer and is incredibly professional, understanding and accommodating.  You can tell instantly that she is a mother and that she is 100% comfortable with babies and families.  I can not stress how important this is!  Jody knows how to get the right angles, lighting, and background to make sure everyone looks great and your messy house looks magazine ready.  When you are selecting your outfits make sure everyone is comfortable and because you need your house to be a little warm (to help baby sleep) I would recommend wearing clothes that aren’t going to make you feel hot.

What do you hope your child/family will say years down the road when looking at these images?

It wasn’t until I became a mother that I truly appreciated the ways that my own mom had documented my early days.  As the oldest child I have that perfectly filled out baby book with great pictures.  It is so special being able to look back on those photos, but often times with newborn pictures there is something missing – everyone else! I love the couple of pictures that include my parents and I love seeing the way they looked at me.  I want that for my kids.  I want them to have more than just a couple of pictures that we snap of them on their own.  I want them to have pictures that they will treasure forever.  Pictures that really capture this fleeting, exhausting, and special time for our whole family!  And of course, I want them to have photos of themselves that are as gorgeous as the ones that Jody takes.  Someday if they become parents I know they will love comparing their newborn pictures with their son’s or daughter’s.  Don’t we all love trying to figure out who our kids look like?

What was your favorite part of the experience?
The photos, of course! We have so many of Jody’s pictures framed around our house from our previous two sessions with her and we can’t wait to add more!  We can’t speak highly enough of the quality, creativity, and beauty of her photographs.  We love every single one!
