The Twins are One! {Mount Pleasant Lifestyle First Birthday Session}

It’s hard to believe it was a year ago that I photographed these sweet babies when they were just a few days old. Now they are a year old and full of personality and spunk. Big sister is a year older too and just as sweet and adorable as they come! I kept calling her little sister by big sister’s name… because they are so similar in appearance! Little brother is a spitting image of dad, with his mom’s eyes and expressions. They drove all the way from Murrells Inlet on a very muggy morning, to meet me in Mount Pleasant for their outdoor First Birthday Cake Smash session. I have so many favorites, it was hard for me to decide what I wanted to share!

Here is their mom’s take on preparing for (and surviving) the session:

Were you worried about any parts of the session beforehand?

“Only that the kids would melt down and/or not sit still long enough to get a good shot. I like the idea of a morning shoot as it was getting hot so quickly. If I could only reschedule their birthdays for a cooler month!”

What was your favorite part of your session?

“Probably getting the cake shots. Babies and frosting…always a fun combination.”

Tell me about the outfits you wore to the session.

“I loved the navy/white matching outfits. I wanted something a little more “formal” and classic but still cool on a hot morning.”

Tell me about your favorite images from this session?

“I love the pictures of the babies and their cupcakes! Especially the dead stare from {C} after we took hers away.  Any picture where all three kids are looking in the same general direction, with eyes open and no tears is a WINNER!!!”

Do you have any advice for other families preparing for a First Birthday session?

“If I did this one over again, I would nix the outfit change. By the time I got the babies in their “formal” outfits, they had about enough sitting still. Oh, and bring a diaper cover for the cake shots :)”

“Lucky for us, Jody is awesome! This is our 4th shoot with her and she always gets the shot. She is a mom. She knows the window for success is short. As I am dressing/ undressing, fixing hair, attaching bows, wiping noses…she is shooting away. There is so much going on and as the parent you don’t have time to help the photographer set up the shot….and with Jody, you don’t have to. She gets there early, has a plan and is ready as soon as you are. She takes control which is so appreciated.”
