Welcome to the world, Hazel Grey! Mom and Dad were so excited to meet their brand new daughter and welcome her home. They didn’t know if they were having a boy or girl, so the anticipation of her arrival was that much more exciting! To say they are smitten is with their newborn daughter is an understatement. “Big brother” Murphy was also very smitten – and also a very big ham in front of the camera!
The newborn phase is so fleeting and I am honored and humbled to capture it for generations to come. When I asked her mom what she hopes Hazel Grey will say years from now when she looks at her images, here is what she said (right before I ugly-cried):
“I hope that Hazel Grey just loves having the memories of when she was only 10 days old! I love that you were able to capture a few shots of Hazel Grey with the portrait of my grandmother Hazel – who meant the world to me and who is her namesake. I know that it means a lot to my family. We lost her way too soon and I wish so badly that she could still be here to meet her great granddaughter!”

Was there anything you were nervous or worried about before your newborn session?
I was just nervous because I did not know what to expect. I am such a planner and I wanted to do everything I could to make sure the session went very smoothly but knew with a newborn that some of it was out of my control! I was worried that Hazel Grey might not be in a great mood that day and too fussy for the session to go smoothly! I’m glad I chose you. You were so amazing with Hazel Grey. I could not have asked for a more pleasant day.
Do you have any advice for other families preparing for an in-home newborn session?
I would always recommend doing your research and choosing a photographer who has experience with newborns. I have heard some horror stories of other families choosing a photographer, but not one with experience with newborns. I think that makes all the difference in the world. You definitely put my mind to ease after talking to you several times about the session. All of the information you gave me prior to the session was very helpful.
What was your favorite part of the experience?
Just taking photos as a family with our new baby girl and our first born furry child (jk), Murphy! It was just a fun, pleasant day. I had so much anxiety about it during the days leading up to the session but you definitely put me to ease from the moment you came in our house. I was so impressed at how good you were with her!
