From Hospital to Home {Fresh 48 & In-home Newborn Sessions on Film, Mount Pleasant, SC}

Her motherhood story…

What were your first thoughts when you met baby {O}?

I will never forget the moment he was placed in my arms. I was overwhelmed with feelings of gratitude & awe in having the opportunity to witness God’s most precious work up close and personal. My heart exploded with inexplicable joy; I was surprised by the intensity of love and the profound need to protect that overcame me. I now understand the meaning of having your heart live outside your body.

What do you hope he will say years down the road when looking at these images?

I just hope that he will know how loved and cherished he was even before he arrived, and for that reason, we chose to capture as many precious and fleeting moments as we could 💙

What is your favorite thing about being a mother?

I would say that the quiet moments with him are my favorite- like when he reaches his hand up to hold mine when he’s feeding. Time flies with a newborn so I’m trying to soak up all the special moments as they come.

Her session experience:

Was there anything you were nervous or worried about before your session?

I was nervous that the baby wouldn’t cooperate since he doesn’t seem to like sleeping during the day (which ultimately happened!). I’m so thankful for Jody’s patience and that she came back another day to give it another shot!

Do you have any advice for other families preparing for an in-home newborn session?

I would say to just relax and enjoy the experience (especially since Jody really does think of everything) and to know that your decision to do the session is absolutely worth it!

What was your favorite part of the experience?

Other than the photos of our little one, our favorite part was watching Jody work with our baby. She’s basically a newborn magician. We have started using her tricks with him since they worked so well!

Sessions were captured with:

Canon 5D Mark III

Canon 1V 35mm // Portra 400 // The FIND Lab

Mamiya 645 // Portra 400 or Ilford Delta 3200 // The FIND Lab
